PRIVACY POLICY

The short version

Last Theater is about New York theater, and we want you to trust us with your inbox. Here is what we promise:
  • We collect only what we need: your email if you subscribe, and basic information about how people use our site.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • We never hand your email or personal details to theaters, sponsors, or any other business, including our sister studio.
  • We use advertising tools from Meta and TikTok to reach new readers. You can opt out, and we explain how below.
  • You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.

The full details follow.

Who we are

Last Theater is operated by Poodle Palace LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This policy covers last.theater, our newsletter, and our social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok.

Poodle Palace LLC also operates K Hurley Studio, a marketing and creative studio. We tell you this up front because both businesses share an owner. The section "Our sister studio" below explains exactly what that does and does not mean for your information.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you choose to share it, your name. If you contact us, answer a reader survey, or enter a giveaway, we collect what you send us.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our site, we and our analytics and advertising partners collect technical information through cookies and similar tools. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location (city or region), the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site or ad that brought you here.

Newsletter engagement. Our email provider records whether you open our newsletter and which links you click. We use this to see what readers find useful.

We do not ask for or knowingly collect sensitive information such as health, financial, or government ID details.

How we use it

We use your information to:
  • Send you the Last Theater newsletter and occasional announcements about Last Theater, such as events or reader surveys.
  • Understand which posts, shows, and topics readers care about, so we can make Last Theater better.
  • Show ads for Last Theater to people likely to enjoy it, and measure whether those ads work.
  • Respond to you when you write to us.
  • Keep the site secure and comply with the law.

We will only email you about Last Theater. If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask you first.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising tools

We use three kinds of tracking tools on our site:
  • Google Analytics tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they came from. We see this as aggregate reports, not as information about you personally.
  • The Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and the TikTok Pixel tell those platforms when someone who saw a Last Theater ad visits our site. This helps us measure our ads and show them to people who may like Last Theater, including people who have visited our site before. Meta and TikTok may connect this activity to your account on their platforms and use it under their own privacy policies.
  • Essential cookies set by our website host keep the site working.

This kind of advertising tracks activity across different websites and apps. If you'd rather not be part of it, you can:

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Our site does not currently respond to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control browser signals. You can still opt out of ad tracking using the options above.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Last Theater, and only for that purpose:
  • MailerLite sends our newsletter and stores subscriber emails.
  • Cargo hosts our website.
  • Google Analytics measures site traffic.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) provides advertising and ad measurement.
  • TikTok provides advertising and ad measurement.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if Last Theater is ever sold or transferred to a new owner. In that last case, we will tell you and this policy will continue to apply to information we collected under it.

We never share subscriber lists with theaters, producers, sponsors, or advertisers. When we work with sponsors, they reach you through what we publish, not through your data.

Our sister studio, K Hurley Studio

K Hurley Studio may use aggregate, anonymous insights from Last Theater. These are things like "most of our readers are 25 to 40" or "posts about new plays get twice the engagement." These insights describe our readership as a whole and never identify any individual.

K Hurley Studio does not receive your email address, your name, or any information about you personally. It will not email you, and we will not use Last Theater's subscriber list or site visitor data to target K Hurley Studio ads.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can:
  • Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any newsletter.
  • See your information. Ask us what personal information we have about you.
  • Correct or delete it. Ask us to fix or erase it, and we will, unless the law requires us to keep something.
  • Opt out of ad tracking using the steps in the cookies section above.

To make a request, email contact@last.theater. We will respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.

How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep your email for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only what's needed to make sure we don't email you again. Analytics data is kept according to our providers' retention settings. We use reputable providers and limit access to the people who run Last Theater, but no system is perfectly secure.

Children

Last Theater is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date below. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect.
